Good ol' Washington, D.C.

For some, April showers bring May flowers....for D.C. natives it brings CHERRY BLOSSOMS!! A little history for you -  Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo gave the gift of 3,000 cherry trees to the city of Washington, D.C. in 1912 to honor the lasting friendship between the United States and Japan. Today, more than a million people travel each year to admire the blossoming cherry trees and attend events that herald the beginning of spring in the nation’s capital. My Grandmother really loved going to see the Cherry Blossom trees each year. I know, she was with me the day I took these. (Helena Chaffee.1928-2010)
